For Australian not-for-profits

Connect your not-for-profit’s website and committee tasks

Open Communities is Australian software for community groups like yours. Publish events and explain your purpose online. Your committee can manage member details, event sign-ups, project funds and sponsor support in the same platform.

Give people a place to find your activities

Use your website to explain what your group does and how people can take part. Visitors can find events and follow links to sign up. They can also open public project pages where you have set up funding.

Your committee manages the details behind these events and projects in your own community area.

Explore website content and domain choices.

Keep member details and responsibilities together

With the right access, you can view member records and manage who belongs to each group. Give committee members and volunteers access to the tasks they handle. Review that access when their roles change.

Being a member does not give someone admin access. Keeping your group’s information in one place helps the next committee pick up each task.

Explore member records, groups and committee access. If you run a membership-based group, see the association overview too.

From a published event to arrival

Your committee could use the platform to run a community gathering. People sign up through your website. Your event team then reviews their details and checks them in when they arrive.

  1. 1

    Publish and register

Your committee publishes the event on your website. People read the details and sign up to attend.

  2. 2

    Review the registrations

Your event team reviews who has signed up and their attendee details. They can also review payment details where these apply.

  3. 3

    Check people in

Helpers with the right access scan QR tickets as people arrive. This checks each attendee in for the event.

Explain a project and offer clear support options

Set up a public project page to explain what you want to achieve. Show people how they can help fund it. The ways they can give depend on how you set up the project.

  • One-time contributions let people give to a project with a single payment.
  • Recurring project support lets people give on an ongoing basis, where you have set this up.
  • Pay-later pledges record a promise to give. A pledge is not money you have received.

Project contributions are not automatically tax-deductible donations.

Organise sponsorship and recognition

Keep sponsor details and packages together so your committee can manage this support. Prepare invoice details and recognise sponsors on your community website.

Explore sponsor administration and recognition.

Review payment details with the event, project or sponsorship they relate to. This helps you see what each payment is for. See payment records and expense administration for more detail.

Keep people informed about activities

Your event team can prepare emails to keep people up to date. For example, you could write to them about a change to an event. SMS or WhatsApp can offer other ways to stay in touch, where set up.

Check the setup needs and usage charges when you choose a channel. See communication options and setup, and compare current plans and service costs.
